Hi my hen suddenly started limping veery badly (in the evening she was alright and in the next day she was limping and basically walking and running on one leg). I checked both her feet and the both footpads seemed swollen and both had a black scab (like 5mm in diameter). I isolated her and applied ichthammol ointment on both footpads and wrapped them up using gauze and bandage. I change the oinment and bandages everyday and i've been doing this since monday. She's still limping and i dont think the swelling is less. I may post a picture of footpads tomorrow.
I didn't remove the scabs. She was sleeping on the roost the past 3 days but today i put her in nest but she still manages to roost on the nests edge.
How do i help her?

If you do a search for "Treating Bumblefoot" under the "Articles" heading, you should find a lot of really good articles on identifying and treating bumbl;efoot. I found this one to be very helpful, partly because the pictures are very clear. Good Luck!

We've removed the scabs. They were flat and black. I tried to push the "infection" out but nothing came out. Footpads are still swollen. I sprayed the footpads with a spray that prevents infections and wrapped it up. I'll keep you updated.
PS. There was no hard kernel inside the footpad. Just the flat scab.

Today i noticed that she has a hard growth at the spurs level on the one leg (the one that she keeps up). It looks like a swollen place but it's bone hard. I'll take pictures later.

I hope it can be seen. Above the bandage
