My EE roo, Mr. Sedgwick, is very lame. Soaked him in Epsom salts for 5 minutes, and this is what we've got. The black area is hard and stiff.

He's in the henhouse but in a wire dog cage with food and water. Plenty of pine shavings for bedding. Soak or cut? TIA ❤️

Hi, I would soak with the salty water for 10 minutes, make it warm. After that I would apply neosporin and some bactine spray if you have any. Then tomorrow (or the day after above instructions are completed) soak for 10 more minutes and then try to remove it. If successful, wrap the foot. If you end up doing this, I can help you wrap it in a good way if needed !! Best of luck

I don't see anything I would try to cut out. It looks more like contact dermatitis to me. Here's a link about treating it: https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...contact-dermatitis-foot-pad-dermatitis.78413/
