WELL,,,,remember my little buff orp hen that had the bumblefoot, we she is doing great, and been out in the big run for 3 days now, but now i have a major problem...when she want to lay her egg, she wants to go to the cage that she was in when she was recouperating to lay that egg she wont go in the nesting boxes that she used to go in...she actually flew out of the big run to our back porch making such a screeching noise, we put her in the cage cause she was laying out there, she laid the egg, put her in the big run and she is fine, but she does this every afternoon when she has to lay that egg......how do i break her of this now??????

Oh, the ideas they get in their heads!

I am no expert - probably others will have good ideas. Mine started laying outside. I think they needed more nesting box space and privacy. So I lock them in until I have 4 eggs, or it’s clear I’m only getting 3

Glad to hear she is doing so well!:love I would put the cage in the run without any bedding and hopefully she will look for a new nest box.
we covered the fence with hardware cloth so she cant get out, but when she wants to lay that egg she follows me around wanting to be picked up and brought to the barn to lay that egg, i did put the cage in the run yesterday, but all the other chickens had fun playing in it but not my little buff....

Just leave the cage out there. It's a new 'thing' right now and they are all curious. Pretty soon it will just be normal and boring. Put it as close to your other boxes as it can be physically, and no bedding. Hopefully your buff will soon change her mind for the more comfortable boxes. They can be stubborn!
