Bumblefoot with a huge lump

I have successfully treated bumblefoot before. I have one hen that has a swolloen foot. I checked her feet. The swollen foot had the tell tale callous. The other foot also had a callous and was starting to swell. Both callous came out like corks. The better foot had some drainage. Very little came out of the bad one. I had expected to be able to push out a plug. Both feet were packed with neosporin and wrapped. The better foot seems ok now. The bad foot still has a huge lump between the toes. The lump on the bottom is much better. The lump between the toes looks like it could pop. Is it advisable to lance the large lump between the toes? If so, I will soak it in betadine, lance it, drain it, pack it with neosporin and wrap it. On a side note, the chicken isn't even limping, but it looks awful. Any advice is appreciated.

Well, I went ahead and cut the thing open frm the top. The bird didn't even seem to mind. I wrapped her in a towel and laid her on her side with her face covered. She just quietly laid there. My only assistant was the dog. He was there for moral support. Once I started cutting, he walked a few feet away and threw up. I guess it was too much. I got a waxy ball of gunk out that was about the size of a kernal of corn. I packed it with neosporin, covered it with gauze and wrapped it with vet wrap. She is in the hospital cage and seems unfazed by the whole incident.

Good job! That is too funny about the dog! Attack chicken- do a search on bumble foot and find Ruth's tutorial. It is very easy if you follow her pics and step by step instructions. It is very strange, but it didn't seem to hurt my chicken at all... Just keep her face covered and if you can find a helper have them hold her wings down, just in case she gets startled. You can do it!

I had an issue with a swollen foot/limping and a lump on my Sebastapol goose. Hers was to the point where she wouldn't walk around the yard and I picked her up and the foot was burning hot from infection. I contacted our vet who said they'd never worked on a goose but would if I wanted to bring her in but in waiting for their call I found a solution that didn't require them to cut her open. The stuff they recommended I could not find in my area but could be bought online but it's for fish and fighting infection, but I did find some other product called Pimafix that our local store had. I soaked her foot in some water with Pimafix that I got at Earl May's, they also sell it at the pet stores. She improved within a few days and I continued for about 4days and then let her out of seclusion. I admire you for cutting it open, I'm with the dog, don't have the stomach for it and thought if this didn't work within a day I'd take her to the vet.
