I am having my first Bumblefoot experience. Can we eat the eggs? Do we really need to sanitize the entire coop? What precautions do I need to take to not transmit staph to my family. Thanks!

You can still eat the eggs. Make sure there coop is cleaned out once a week. Dirty coops, rocks high roosting areas can all cause bumblefoot. Can I see you coop and the chickens bumblefoot?

Just follow normal, basic hygiene and cleanliness. Wash hands, if you are working directly on the foot you can wear disposable nitrile gloves. I've treated quite a few, and some very nasty ones, and never had an issue. Pictures of the foot would be good, how are you treating?
Even a tiny cut, splinter or scrape can (not necessarily will) be the start of bumblefoot. It's from bacteria entering the wound. And in a coop and run you are never going to eradicate all bacteria. It doesn't affect the eggs. If the bird got sick enough from an untreated case for it to affect the eggs, she would stop laying.
