Bunny breeding?

I'm sure it depends on the breed and the demand. Sure you can do that and start a business but whether it will be successful or not no one can tell you that.

Hello, I'm totally new to bunnies and I was wondering if I could get a male and female and breed them and start a business. Would that work? Or not? Thanks!
Depends on the breed and demand of the breed I have turned mine into a business making $300 a litter. It also depends who your selling to and the quality of ur rabbits.

Breeding rabbits isn't as easy as some people think it is. Does can be difficult to get bred, babies (or whole litters) can be lost for a lot of reasons. Even when your animals aren't producing, you still have the expense of their feed, hay, water (even if you are on a well, there is the electricity to run it), etc. Plus, you have the time spent cleaning and caring for the rabbits - your time has to be worth something. I've had rabbits for almost 30 years; for me it's just a hobby. I enjoy what I do with them, but by the time you calculate it all out, my rabbits cost more than they make for me most of the time. That is true for most of the rabbit breeders I have known.

that is so true! I mean people have to be prepared to spend ALOT of money no matter how much they get back.

It also depends on what kind of business model you have. Ie. people who eat/kill their surplus or sick (as opposed to expensive vets and meds) animals may be able to ride out demand rises and falls better than those who do not, people who feed their animals with their land as opposed to buying and bringing in food may have an upper hand, hobby verus full-time job makes a difference as does scale, etc. Know your market and know how to direct your market. You don't want to start off with two pet store rabbits if you are getting into competitive showing, if you are selling for pets-only you'll want to focus on temperament and health or other traits important to pet owners, etc.
