Does anyone have experience with pea puffers? I saw them at the LFS the other day and was quite fascinated with them.

They are a great fish, but not really that great for a community tank. They are fin nippers and can become quite aggressive to other fish. Do not keep with ghost shrimp.

They are sensitive to tank chemistry, more so than most other fish, so only add to established tanks. They also generate alot of waste, so keep the tank clean with water changes. I had 5 in a 10 gal tank, and that was just about perfect.

They will probably not eat flake, no matter what the fish store says. Some will only eat live blackworms or brine shrimp. Some will also eat frozen or freeze dried, but I wouldn't count on it.

One or two in a planted tank will keep the snails under control. They cannot eat any snails larger than their eye, so you will have to remove any larger ones from your tank first. With larger ones, they will harass and pick at the fleshy parts of the snail until they kill it. They will be unable to eat it, and the dead snail will foul their water.

I loved keeping them, but make sure you can provide the fresh food.

I have one pea puffer in my 55g planted tank. I had a massive snail explosion, he cleared it up in 3 days. Now I have a snail harvest tank for him. He will only eat snails, I have heard some will except frozen food.

Mine is kept with rasboras, danios, hatchet fish, and cherry shrimp (some bottom dwellers as well) with no problems. He will only eat the occasional shrimp if I haven't given him snails in awhile. He was fine with all other fish until he hit sexual maturity and then he got SUPER aggressive. He would fin nip anything he could get ahold of. The dither-type fish seem to be able to avoid him well enough and he just ignores them now.

They are quite intelligent, and when I am feeding him I just have to tap quietly on the tank and he will come right up to me. He will follow my finger to wherever I decide I am feeding him. Mine doesn't seem to have any trouble with larger snails, he just gets ahold of them and sucks their entire body out in one slurp.

It's best if you are planning on having more than one to have one male to a couple of females. The males are quite territorial to one another. Males will have a vertical stripe down their stomach and creases around their eyes. As juveniles they are much harder to tell apart however.

They are also quite susceptible to intestinal worms, especially if snail eaters. I take care to worm all of my tanks every few months or so.

Beautiful bettas. As for help what exactly are you trying to do? Integrate the females with the male and the guppies? Or are you just worried your male isn't big enough? Are you getting into breeding guppies?

angel fish concerns here aquarium folk.

i have some new angels...
most of angels are thriving...there active, flashing fins, generally very happy angels.
but my 1 little gold angel has its tail closed...i wouldnt say truly clamped" but definatly not fanned and relaxed like the others.

water pareneters are all good...and very stable, i test regularly with the API freshwater master test kit.

he is eating well, hes active, swims comfrtably mid level, theres no chasing going on tank has plenty of cover, is comfortbaly stocked at about 1/2 capacity right now, and everyone else is showing no signs of stress, illness ect.

hes acting normal other than his tail being closed up...

the others are shoing no sighns of stress...
what you think, he was added ot the tank about a week ago...mabe just stressed from the move still?
hs tail has been closed for about 2 days now but hes stil eating like a pig (infact hes only almost nickle sized and already knows how to beg lol)

Does he school with the other angels? How old are your other angels?
