BYC Café

Good Morning All,
I had 3 cups of coffee already and it is not even 8am over here. I am still not feeling the hyperactivity causes by overload of caffeine. This rain has dampened my energy and I am totally uninspired even after 3 cups of caffeine. :)
There are much I would like to do on the last day of 2024, but this rain means that I just have to let go and chill out.

Getting a cup of green tea instead now.

Happy New Year🎆

A friend of our had to put down his dog today. A few days ago, the dog bit him in the face. I haven't heard how badly, but I'm guessing stitches were necessary.

They've had him for 4 months, he was from a shelter, and not neutered. That was a "we're going to do that sometime in the future," but it never happened. Who knows if that would have calmed him down some? Like a cockerel, he was a randy teenager, but wrapped up in a 60 pound German Shepard mix dog.

So it's just trapped runoff, not a high water table?
It is just one of the joys of living on a large hill of hardpan. It will run off eventually. It's already much better this morning. I can only see large puddles in the worst spot between my property and the neighbor's.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

I got the girls out for a good hike yesterday but the winds were strong... not Margie, "we've got breezes" strong but strong enough I avoided the trails through the woods. At one point, not too far away I heard a huge crack then a loud BOOM as a big tree got blown over. Easier to do in waterlogged soil down nearer the creek.

Oh, that’s too bad. But I understand it. A couple of weeks ago, my dog jumped in the car as we were loading it to go visit our grandsons. Without thinking, I grabbed him by the hips to keep him from jumping from the cargo area into the back seat. He - for the first time ever - snarled and bared his teeth at me. The difference is, he’s old (just turned 11) and has a hip that hurts him. He also didn’t actually bite. But I do worry about him with our littlest granddaughter (1 1/2)who loves to hug him and be close to him. I told DH if Ruger ever does that to one of the kids, he’s a goner. The family is all coming this weekend to celebrate Christmas. I’m going to make sure he gets pain meds every day while the kids are here and remind the little ones to be gentle. He loves kids, but I worry how he’ll react if one accidentally gets too rough with him or falls over him or something.

A few years ago my nephew, his wife and 4 kids were at a shelter to meet a dog to see if they wanted to adopt it. The wife reached toward the dog and it latched onto her arm. My nephew stepped in and also got badly bitten. He ended up with nerve damage to his hand. That dog was put down by the shelter.

Good morning and happy New Year Cafe! The first pot of coffee is ready.

I have my first frittata of the year cooking. Haven't made one is quite a while. I've finished building my gym and just have to reassemble the bench/rack I purchased, hang the mirrors and a few other finishing touches. I will do my very first work out in my new gym today!
