We live in the northeast, like way waaaaay north, and we have had over 6 wild fires in the past week! This has NEVER happened before, and "wild fires" in general are not common at all! Our fires don't seem to spread too far though, even if it really is dry, just because of the types of foliage that we have here. But one was over 40 acres about 20 miles from us, and we just got it contained, and one started about 10 miles from us last night. Another started a few days ago and it's steadily burning at 20 acres, and there are several more that are a bit tinier. But GOSH!

Quick change of subject...chicken question...how often do y'all feed your hens treats? When I say treats I mean fruit, corn on cob, granola, etc. Oh, sorry to hear about the fires. Hopefully they will get them under control. Like the artwork. You should use that design on some old farm planks. It would look cool.

Welcome! I know how you feel. There have been a few years where I rented a mini-storage and moved everything of sentimental value out so all I needed to grab were the kids and critters and a few prepacked suitcases of clothes. Next year we are supposed to be drying out again, after some historic floods mind you.....

I do not consider those things "treats" I consider them food. So I give my birds things like that, kitchen scraps, daily. The layers have food in a continuous feeder, I feed my Meaties twice a day, then I free range and give them kitchen scraps throughout the day. Once a week, I give them a little liver, especially in the winter.
