Horse update: Guess what? The TW did not work out at her new home, injured her eye, went to the vet and got her Coggins and health papers and will be heading up here next Tuesday with Woody.

Good thing I wasn't even in the horse market, who knows how many would be on that trailer!

Count them carefully when they come out - I remember someone telling me about leaving their truck and trailer in the parking lot while they went into the feed store, and coming out to find a couple of horses in it that hadn't been there when they went in!

Mmmmm, coffee.

Thanks BertS,
I had a guy offer to follow me home with the horses in his trailer, if I would give them a home. All because he seen me loading a few (17) bags of feed at my feed store, and most of that was bird feed even. Geesh, he was most insistent about they were good horses and he was giving them away. I took a very round-a-bout way home that day.

Margie, I hope that you end up with the right number of horses considering you didn't even want another horse to start off with.

It's amazing how much of the warehouse space at the local hardware stores is filled with horse feed of one kind or another - driving around the major roads, you'd never think there were that many horses around here. What's also amazing is how many of them are basically pasture ornaments; a lot are in the hands of people who were helping someone else out by taking them in, and maybe don't even know how to ride.

So yesterday DH finally broke down and put down his hay. By coincidence, so did our neighbor.
IT STARTED RAINING LADT NIGHT! still is this morning!
:lau
It hasnt rained here since May, we have been missing every 80% chance. The night DH puts his hay down it finally rains out of 20%. DH is cursing our neighbor, he is threatening to take his keys next time

It's a farmer's lot in life.

Lol, I do not laugh around DH, I instead say I am very sorry. But I agree that is hilarious.
We do round bales, I do not know much about putting up square, but if we put the round up to wet we run the risk of them starting fire. we just put it down, so it isn't that big of a deal, but we did have 10 acres that we out down the day before that was ready....not any more. I think it is more an issue because it was already lousy hay because it was too dry, not it is even lousier because it got rained on.
Yes you are right, I often compare farmers to gamblers.
