WVC & Phil and any other duck person out there, I have a duck feeding question. What do you guys feed your fully feathered out but not yet laying young ducks? And after they start laying what do they get?
Thanks Much and have a good weekend!
Scott

Sorry @scottcaddy I missed this earlier. I also prefer Purina Flock Raiser when I can find it. Our TSC seems to run out of it alot and Rural King doesn't carry it. My second choice is grower/finisher. And I have a bowl of oyster shell for my girl, but even without it, her eggs are fine. My ducks at camp forage and eat cracked corn, and whatever they find in the pond lol!

Honestly, I dont know that it makes much difference. Some people are picky about feed. I use whatever I can find really.

Good Morning....yes, I know, I'm rather late. But I couldn't resist sleeping in just a little bit. I'm still, tired from the berry picking last night. I now have FOUR ice cream pails of blueberry goodness in my refrigerator. I think I have enough. Blueberry muffins on deck for tomorrow. And a co worker told me about some banana nut blueberry muffins she had last weekend while in Lac La Belle. At the monks bakery, don't know, I've never been there. Maybe Phil know where she was talking about?
But I think I'm gonna try those too!

:drool looking forward to blueberry muffins

Now then, after cleaning up after the 11 little darlings (that my DW got as a gift from a friend, who must dislike me) for a few weeks now. Is this the same 'pond' that you invite to swim or wade in?
sickbyc.gif

Just asking if a 'pond' would make any difference in the amount of poo that they put out?
Scott

Scott, the python ate all of the ducks at 'The Pond'. A pond only makes a difference in where they poop - not the amount they put out. Unless very large, filtered (difficult) or set up with a drain for cleaning ponds can get pretty darn stenchy.

Scott I meant to ask if/when/how you got ducks. They aren't that bad! You will get used to them and love watching them! But they can be very messy. If you can let them run about, they spread the mess out. LOL Mine at home are confined to a 50' x 50' area, and with 10 now (the 8 babies are darn near as big as the adults at 6 weeks old) they are moon-scaping the ground alot. But I plan to take them all to camp soon. I do have a real pond at my camp/farm and the 2 there love it. Its man made and was formed in the head of a valley, so the rain water overflows it pretty well and keeps it looking ok. Doesn't smell or anything.

Morning! Coffee sounds good. Heading out for a ride with my fire friend. She is coming over to see her horses and bringing two friends with her, so the new mare is heading out on the trail and I might just pony the big guy along for grins. Depends on the other riders. This will be an easy shorter ride. DS$ and I rode "Shadow" yesterday in the round pen and got her saddle and bridle all set up. Gave a bit of a riding lesson to my son.
I am really glad that I have procrastinated on getting rid of my extra saddles,

Who knew I would need all of the different wither styles yet again..... I might even have a saddle that fits "Woody", now that is just pure ridiculousness.
I would feed my geese Flock Raiser too and also some wheat. They loved it.

Morning Margie

I have no idea just how many saddles are lurking in the back of the tack room here, way too many I'm sure. I don't think that we have ever thrown away any tack before every usable piece has been reused for something else.
Have a good ride, pony Woody, it's good for a new horse to see what is going on without a rider confusing them 1st.
