BYC Café

VW/WV thanks for the coffee. SusanG, pull up a chair and have a cup - welcome to the Café. Just like ladyfolk some pullets develop more slowly than others, and some are not as well endowed.

I believe chickens sure could be addicting but we planned coop for under ten chickens and that will help us STAY at under ten chickens. Actually one of the Wellsummers seems to lead the flock but this small combed RIR just has a silly pushy attitude...she makes us laugh. Thanks for the welcome. Yep, we are in Minnesota...worried a bit about first winter but think we have prepared coop well and chickens are tougher than people think. They wear down all the time!;)

Good Friday Morning WVC,

Thanks for starting the coffee!
Is BertS starting a long weekend?
Should be a very happy Friday, it's still under 90* for today.
Everybody have a good weekend!
Scott

Never know with BertS, huh... Is looking like a decent weather weekend here also! And its mine and hubby's anniversary, so it will be a good weekend, even if we get stuck indoors the whole time...

Good Morning. This looks like a nice friendly thread to join. Im new to chickens, have three Rhode Island Reds and three Wellsummers. We just got first egg on 8-1 and so far its been fun. One of thr RIR has a very small comb but seems healthy and acts normal...any concerns or normal variation? She seems a bit bossy to the other chickens so of course we humanize her and think she is experience comb envy. LOL
Good Friday Morning Susan,

Welcome to BYC! We do try to be a friendly thread.
As WVC said birds can change alot around POL, and there will always be a boss hen, if you only had two hens one would be boss.
Nice coop you built, looks like it can be added onto.

Morning Peeps! Welcome Susan! Hot coffee please! It is 46 with some drizzle and I am not ready for that yet.... maybe some inside chores can get done.
Have a great Anniversary WV!

We have to finish the coop and will not be expanding it!!! LOL. Will add some brick work around bottom edge and some garden area but that is the plan...keeping it small. Just want a few eggs and the entertainmentvof watchingvthe "little dragons".

Oh what a relief is right. At least it hasn't hit in the 100's yet. Actually for Arkansas we've had a very mild summer compared to summers past. Rain every week, sometimes every day. I've never seen such a lush, green July/August. Thank the Lord. The nights have been downright pleasant most the summer. Yes, it would be nice to have a cool day or two but I really don't have much to complain about.

howdy folks.......

apologies on the coffee this morning. Glad VW was able to take care of it.

had some crazy BYC issues and dang near gave up on logging in.

maybe I can fix everyone a good ol fashioned tuna salad sammich?
