I just spent way tooooo much time trying to get both of your posts to quote, but can only get one at a time.
Yes, Friday coffee is better, but I also agree with WVC, Saturdays coffee is way better.

I have a quote for that. Stay tuned until tomorrow!

Have a good day Mr. Scott.

Good wet Friday Morning, WVC

I hope that your broody has a bit of high ground to warm the chicks on.
On the other hand your ducks should be loving it!
Too much rain way to fast here, and now we have a strong cell over us, radar shows alot of yellow and abit of red.
Morning chores on weather hold for another hour.
Hope that everything is good for you guys!
Scott

This cell is dumping a bunch on us both, isn't it? You are right Scott, the ducks sure love it. The chicks, not so much.

But broody momma Mocha and babies were all good. It was wet, but not as soaked as I expected. Thankfully the wind-break boards that I put up at the last minute seemed to help.

I did toss in some pine shavings to hopefully help dry some up, and give them something dry to sit on and play in. I think I'll be able to let them out of the tractor this evening, but the big daddy rooster was stepping on chicks.

Good morning, Café. It's our turn for the rain today. Grandson has two baseball games tonight that may or may not take place. I think that I mentioned about the deer hunter shooting a large female coyote on my property last fall. Ran into him yesterday and asked what she weighed - 54 lbs.

I never gave much cred to the coywolf theories, but that couldn't have been a 'pure' coyote. She was thin because of slight mange so maximum weight would have been in excess of the 54 pounds.

Nice to see the littles are doing OK!
Some roo's don't seem to care what they step on, while others are very careful around the chicks, go figure.
Nice looking chicks you have there, what are they?
Scott

Exactly, that was the problem here. He was just too careless, where my other boys seem to pay attention. He's a big lug. They are bantam orpingtons... chocolate or carrying the chocolate gene. Fat little fluffy butts.

Wow, that is a hefty one!!

Mornin' y'all!

Dodging thunderstorms this morning. I don't mind; it's been dry around here, and with April historically our driest month, I'd rather see rain than not. This is definitely fire season, and there have been a few "controlled burns" that got out of control already this year. There are a lot of native shrubs that burn like crazy even when green and growing; while fire may be a natural part of the ecology around here, people and their property don't bounce back nearly as well as the local flora and fauna do.
