A little warmer here today as well. -23c.

Anyone brave the stores for after Christmas deals?

The closest I've come to a store since before Christmas was to grocery shop yesterday. That was close enough!

What about you Michelle?

I think the bakeware is better, that's why I've used it for so long and occasionally add another piece to my collection.

I still use a lot of parchment paper for just about everything, love that stuff!
Have you ever tried a silicone mat? I bought one of the original ones (Silpat) 25 years ago and it still works amazingly! I rarely have to buy more parchment thanks to it.

I do have a silicone mat but for somethings the parchment works better (like lining a cake pan). An article I read the other day said if you want something to spread out, like brittle, to use the silicone and if you want something like cookies to keep their shape to use parchment.

Mainly I use parchment because I forget I have the silicone (plus, I don't have to wash the parchment).

That's interesting about the spreading. Good tip to know. I agree about the washing sometimes it's a pain. I got a Cookina sheet that is designed for grills. It works really well for making pancakes or French toast on the grill but a real pain to clean. (We've only got one of those little Rubbermaid wash tubs so the mats don't really fit in there).
