Yes, fortunately the dog stops chasing on command. The rabbit dove under a tarp, and then hopped out in the open. I walked very slowly over and grabbed her! I must have left the latch unsnapped when i filled her water! I was lucky to catch her. Her name is Speedy now.

So I've got this years price list for my local breeder/hatcher. For some reason I thought ordering happened later in January.

Some of the breeds will sell out so I want to get an order in asap but haven't finalized my decision yet!

Morning! Nice breeds, Tree. How about Icelandics?
I like mine. Nice size egg, with great predator senses and small comb. Always seem about half wild, hand reared or not.

But a decent number of them have single combs, or scary big bulbous rose combs etc. I really think those chickens must have been kept in the kitchen cabinets in Iceland. Or they were dubbed.

Kind of like a bunch of those newly faddish Scandinavian breeds.

All my birds are hatchery birds and they haven't killed each other yet. Even with a coop and run that's much too small. I'm hopefully moving them soon though.

I have 1 Barred Rock, 2 Black Australorps, 2 Buff Orpingtons (had 3 ), and 2 Easter Eggers.

The Australorps and BR are bossy and one BA in particular is a real bully and chases and pecks a few chickens in particular, pulls feathers sometimes, etc. But has never caused injury. I also think that's just due to the cramped quarters.

But of course it does depend on the individual birds as well as the particular hatchery.

Mine all came from Meyer Hatchery which I think has pretty good tempered birds overall.

I think sometimes the feed stores tend to have worse birds, for whatever reason.

No, that wasn't me, this is our very first frozen pipes.

But they thawed! Didn't take too much time thank goodness. We'll be buying the tape tomorrow. Now we know to be more cautious in these temps. We've only been here a year and last winter was mild
