Wow, 2 gallons? Sweet!![]()
I've got my sponge, but it's been raining at the rate of about 2" an hour for more than 3 hours - not sure how much more the sponge can soak up.![]()
Quote: We have only had the first hive a little over a year. They use a lot of calories making wax, so you let them fill out the brood boxes with wax, honey stores, pollen, and brood. Then when they have their own needs taken care of we let them fill out the supers. Because wax is so energy intensive, We only cut off the caps and then put the caps back into the hive for them to reuse for comb. After you spin the honey you leave the comb for them to refill so they do not have to work so hard making more.
It is interesting flavor. The area was high in flea bane, hypericum,bi dens, spruce pine and...Bahia grass. I figure it will have to help with my allergies.
It is rather dark, a bit darker than the store bought wild flower.
We did put some wax foundation in the second super that we put on in June so we could have comb honey, but they scavenged the wax foundation to use for finishing out the first super's cells. That was an expensive mistake.
