Around here dogs are lucky to get rehomed cats just get dumped I have done my best to keep stray and feral cats spayed or neutered but I cannot keep them and finding homes is like rehoming a nasty loud rooster.

Every time some one brings me a ball of fur and says pooh so cute. I say maybe, but kittens become cats and puppies become dogs. A ball of feathers is a whole nother story

I think dog parks can be great provided people vaccinate, have their dogs under control, and if dogs start young it can be a very good socialization tool. Even so, there are bound to be issues.
Not all humans like each other either so I can forgive the dog. He did what dogs do. His human, not so much. We only go once a week or so, otherwise we walk at a different park or around our neighborhood so maybe we'll try a different park next time.
Honestly, Frank is the dog that wants to play with EVERYONE. Human, dog, it makes no difference. He's not mean though and if other dogs don't want to play he'll leave them alone, but definitely try again.
I 100% agree that people should know what they're dealing with when they select a dog. We are very experienced dog owners but we still did a ton of research before we decided on a bully breed.
Too bad they don't come with a disclosure about what foods give them gas though good gracious

Good points! Some dogs definitely aren't under control which is more of what I meant when I was saying it wasn't great for socialization. It definitely CAN be because there's lots of people and dogs and some parks are great but there are also a lot of unruly, out of control dogs sometimes (again, depends on park or time of day) which can teach your pup bad manners or scare them and set you back so for me it's just easier to avoid them but a good dog park can be worth it's wait in gold. It just can be hard to find a good one.

But yeah, some dogs don't like other dogs which is fine but I find it's definitely usually the owners who are the problem ha or the people who insist on taking their dog even though the dog clearly isn't a dog park kind of dog which is just so unfair to the dog. I think it is an easy, great way to exercise, so people wish the dogs loved it. But that's like trying to force an introvert to go to parties all the time. Some people (and dogs) would just prefer to stay home and read a book or watch TV, so to speak. People understand that for people, wish they understood it for dogs, and/or that their dog is not necessarily a bad or vicious dog cause it doesn't like to party.

And I'm glad you did your research on bullies! Not many people do.

Feral cats are a problem here too. We helped a neighbor spay and neuter some kittens a feral cat had on his property. He fed them and was able to tame them but they slowly disappeared. We have owls and coyotes around here.
I say absolutely not to any more animals, but I did consider a bunny for a short time. Honestly, I'm glad I didn't do it. My time is so busy with children, chickens and dogs it's ridiculous.

Perfect analogy! My silky doesn't go for playing. She says hello to the other dogs and is fine, then patiently waits for me to finish gabbing so we can walk around the lake.

Yeah, I want more animals but they do take a lot of time. Even for me who has nothing but time lol
