I am actually thinking about using that grass looking outside carpet for the healing cages. I think it would be less work for me since DH said no extra dust! Right now I use old towels and change them daily. Then I soak them, then hose them off, then line dry, then off to washer for a bleach cycle then dryer. I think I could hose off rugs, disinfect hose again and dry none of them in my washer or dryer.
Is there anyone as crazy as me that has found a better way?

Have you tried shelf liner?

It can come out daily and washed it the washing machine. You would need to have two for each cage

GREAT IDEA! I think I have some. I use it for everything! Motor home, incubator, under bathroom rugs, even in sink or tub to wash baby (not for a long time now though) or animal.

Hospital coop ? I have 3 coops honestly never had to make that choice so your doing something you have to :caf:idunno:clap

These 3 came into our life with injuries or from poor management. I don't usually have chickens in the house. Chicks yes adults no. Surprisingly it did not take DH or DS too long to tune out the rooster :thumbsup.
The crates and cages are from past pets that no longer live with us do to death or placement.
This is Freeta when she captured my heart last month. She was in a 3x6 cage with a rooster who is also here but no damage so he is outside.

Great job! What a blessing you are to them. She looks so much happier.

That would be a big shot to the system are you able acclimate slowly those crates a re big I would not want to haul the back and forth anymore either but @ronott1 is right when he said contact/shelf paper of washable

I don't move the crates, just the towels, but the bottom 2 have wheels. And come apart to fold flattish. DH said no extra dust, because that is where he is storing his tools and computer whatnots. I was taking the birds out to play daily now not so much because of the heat. I think that might be why Freeta started crowing. So I am letting her cruise the house in a diaper for a bit. She likes to terrorize the house cats and the dog. :lau And she is good at it!
