BYC Café

Penny you make great doughnuts. I try to bypass fried foods but, now and then couldn't hurt.
I've never quite understood this fried foods business.
Isn't it what you fry the food in that's important? Olive oil as opposed to animal fat for example.

I don't think doughnuts gets fried in olive oil. I know a friend said his french fries were the best in the world because he used olive oil to fry them. He always thought he would retire to Sanibel Island and open a restaurant. He wanted to walk around and talk to diners and schmooze.

Sadly he died of pancreatic cancer, at 59 and never realized his dream. It's been many years since and I still miss him very badly. He always used to say "I Feel like a bloody steak." So to honor his memory, I go out and get one myself.

No, your right. I don't think doughnuts get fried in olive oil either.
I don't eat much of that type of food. It's very popular here; it seems to be a nation of sweet teeth. I like sweet things but I'm not big on the sweet dough stuff. Probably just as well.
