You could get really sick. Seriously, Heaven forbid, but that's the only way I could quit. The addict gene runs rampant on both DH & my sides of the family. My poor kids are doomed if they ever start anything addictive. At least now we know & we talk to them about the very real reality of such things.
I did get really sick, I had a heart attack and was lucky to survive apparently. Of course, I got told I must give up smoking.......

I believe you can do it, Shad! Just may take longer. Even if you try to just reduce it by one less cigarette a day, that is still one less you have smoked that day. It doesn’t have to be a rapid transition or quitting cold turkey.

This may work for some, but sure as heck not for me. In everything I am all in or all out. Moderation is not and has never been part of my vocabulary. Life would be so much easier if it was.

My eldest daughter, who is the most tolerant of the pair, but who is also prone to being bossy but practical gave me one of those sit down I want to explain a few things to you type chats that parents normally give to their kids.
Well, I don't argue with her. She's put up with my idiosyncratic behavior for years.
One of the questions she asked was what do you want done with your body when you die.
My preference is to be cremated; if I could be buried I would like to be buried with the chickens. This isn't going to be possible. She said that what she could do is bury my ashes next to Major and the rest of the chickens from Tribe 1. That will do me.:love

That is true!! Certainly won’t work for everybody! And I actually find that I have the moderation problem too with sweets and junk food
