Nice. Mine is closer to a mini barn than a coop, but it could be moveable, if I rented several large forklifts.
You have rather different climate conditions as I understand it and the chickens may have to spend time in their coop. It's everybody out here most days, even if it's not all at once.
The only times they are very reluctant to come out is when it's very windy. I used to think this was because they didn't like getting blown about. I think what the real problem is is they can't hear in high winds and that means they can't here warning calls, wing beats, the other animals who also give alarms etc.

Yes, they spend probably about four or five months of the year inside due to excessive snow depth and cold temperatures. It's not exactly the tropics here!
I leave the door open so they can wander a few feet out, but the main square footage they get is inside the coop.

I think you're correct. Horses in particular are much spookier and on-edge in those conditions, and they certainly aren't worried about being blown around!
