I looked up Gooseberries and they are not good for our hot dry summers. They can do well on the coast and in the coast range mountains on the Ocean side. The article said not to bother where I live
I'm surprised given we have long hot summers as well.
I think they're having a larf.;)

The gooseberries here came from the UK.
Out of all the fruit bushes, they were the most neglected and every year I've been here they flourished and fruited. It's why I planted some outside my house. You just need to water them every now and then and keep the badgers away from them because they seem to be rather partial to them.
The chickens will eat them but only to annoy you.:D
