The vet is going to try to take the tumor without docking the vertebrae. If he can't close the skin, he'll dock it.
On a very good note, the Dr. was listening to Skittle's heart during his admissions exam and said to me "you said he had a heart murmur?" I replied "YOU said he did". He can barely hear it now. It was graded at a 2-3/6 when first detected. So his meds are obviously helping him.

We have to lock our cat out of the bedroom. DH swears she walks across his face during the night.

Thank you. I was told to call in at 2:00.

Good news! Keep us updated please!

Hummingbird eggs in their nest. The nest is about the size of a golf ball.

Good morning, Cafe. Thanks for the coffee, Shad.

Skittles goes in for his partial tail amputation in a little under 2 hours. I'm nervous for him having general anesthesia because of his heart condition. I'm going to talk to the vet about a heavy tranquilizer and lots of novocaine in the tail to get the last vertebrae off.
Because the tumor is not cancerous, I've toyed with the idea of just leaving it but he's gotten it pretty angry looking because he won't leave it alone. It's got to go.
I knew he would be on activity restriction for several days after the surgery so I took the whole gang out yesterday for an hour long run in the fields and trails. Even bratty little sister got to go!
We had just intoxicating weather yesterday. I can still hear the peepers so they've been singing all night. Fabio was half out of his mind alerting to every bird that flew through or near the pen. Something tells me the 2 cardinal pairs that nested in what is now referred to as "the chicken bush" will be finding other accommodations this season.
We will be hoping for the very best outcome for Skittles. I have a very good feeling about the surgery and your veterinarian and his team, and feel like their awareness of his heart issue will determine how they approach his anesthesia
Too early indeed. All was peaceful until about 12:15 when Pip (one of my house cats) decided to romp. She quieted down around 1:00 and back to bed for me. Around 2:30 she was back scratching at the sides of the plastic litter box (she's got some kind of weird fascination about that box). So I spent some time roaming around the internet, went back to sleep and Opie (one of my other house cats) decided I would make a good mattress for his bed. Not a quiet or peaceful night around here...unless you're DH and he slept through it all.

And it's a work day...yay. View attachment 1730530
Well, if you feel up to it maybe you can play with your kitties for a good while before bedtime and then feed them late. Imo it will cause them to sleep longer during the night.
I just found out this may be the last few days we have the boys. It's bittersweet. I'll miss seeing my daughter regularly. Won't miss fighting over chores and homework.
Why wont you have your boys anymore?

My grandsons. My daughter is moving across the valley to Mesa and she told the school they wouldn't be in Friday's but she didn't want to move them during testing. The school district sent a nastygram about their attendance so they have to start their new school now. No more living with me half the time.

Aww, I know you will miss them! But you get to go back to being the fun gramma that they hang out with on weekends! Much more fun than arguing about chores and homework.

I lived right across the street from the jr high when I was in Mesa! About 2 blocks from the mormon temple.

Afternoon Cafe for you folks East of the Mississippi, Good Morning Cafe to those West of the Mississippi. :D

Rapidly approaching 78 years old, probably 50 % of my waking hours have been spent outdoors, and I have never found a hummingbird nest. :(

I wouldn't have found the one I did, if I hadn't noticed the parents going back and forth to the nest.
