@Mtn Margie, my shoulders hurt just thinking about hay bales. Or do you get the biggies that you handle by machine ? The firewood would hurt for sure.

Thanks Becca. My two favorites. I know you're not supposed to have favorites but those two were just amazing. They carved big holes in my heart when they left me.
I'm very depressed this morning. I went out to tend to the flock and my little male blue Ameraucana chick was dead. Another chick isn't looking too good either. Yesterday the little male was very lethargic and I perked him right up with a bit of Poultry Nutri-drench and he was tearing around the brooder drinking and eating with the rest of them. It's so sad to find one dead. And I had one dead in the box when they were delivered.
Some moron didn't put a heat pack in with them. They were way too cold when I picked them up. So now I've lost two and another is struggling. All because someone treated live babies like inanimate objects and neglected their needs. I get the hatcheries are busy this time of year but I can't forgive this. This is my first time experiencing a dead chick. I'm just out of sorts.
I hope everyone else has a nice day.

That is amazing!View attachment 1752131
Here's the best we can do for now guys. Two jelly bean sized chicks.
Will try again in a couple of days, we don't want to be near the nest for too long and make mama mad.
@sourland @ronott1 sorry, can't remember if anyone else asked for pics.
Have a great night everyone.
Sorry for the loss of your little one. It is never easy. Thanks Becca. My two favorites. I know you're not supposed to have favorites but those two were just amazing. They carved big holes in my heart when they left me.

Maybe giving them vitamins in their water and mashed boiled egg to eat would help.Thank you for all the kindness and concern for me and mine.

Good morning everyone! I'm Laurie aka Henhouse.

I remember going out to bale hay as a teenager, hottest days of the year of course, and back then I rather enjoyed it.
I was so small that even standing on the brake I couldn't get the blasted thing to stop.
