Thanks Becca. My two favorites. I know you're not supposed to have favorites but those two were just amazing. They carved big holes in my heart when they left me.I love your new avy!
That would depress me badly also but, I would call and read the hatchery the riot act. They should be subject to "animal cruelty" charges.
) anyway, I came across The Running Man movie and found it funny, yet made me feel older, that they based that movie on the year 2019. Interesting. Oh my how things have changed and yet not THAT much

I'm very depressed this morning. I went out to tend to the flock and my little male blue Ameraucana chick was dead. Another chick isn't looking too good either. Yesterday the little male was very lethargic and I perked him right up with a bit of Poultry Nutri-drench and he was tearing around the brooder drinking and eating with the rest of them. It's so sad to find one dead. And I had one dead in the box when they were delivered.
Some moron didn't put a heat pack in with them. They were way too cold when I picked them up. So now I've lost two and another is struggling. All because someone treated live babies like inanimate objects and neglected their needs. I get the hatcheries are busy this time of year but I can't forgive this. This is my first time experiencing a dead chick. I'm just out of sorts.
I hope everyone else has a nice day.

How awful, Tonya! I'm so sorry....Thanks Becca. My two favorites. I know you're not supposed to have favorites but those two were just amazing. They carved big holes in my heart when they left me.

Thanks, Tina. It definitely takes the joy out of raising these babies. Now I'm just worrying over them instead. How awful, Tonya! I'm so sorry....![]()
. I hate it when anything gets sick and or dies - especially the babies.
. I hope the other ones will perk up and hang in there. B vitamins help stimulate appetite. Hope she does well.Hey, wanted to give an update. My Dominique Sophie that was sick pulled through nicely, back to the flock eating and pooping. However now my Golden Comet hen Peekaboo is sick!she was overly drinking on Monday, with a pendulous crop. Brought her in and went to the University clinic Tuesday a m. They evacuated her crop and did crop and fecal Grams stain. It indicated clostridium rods. Did piprocillan I M every 6 hours for 24 hrs, then switched to oral clavamox every 8 hours for 10 days.
(she hates me now.)
Now she is pooping a more normal consistancy but no appetite today, crop still very slow and still inside with the heat lamp.Otherwise is bright and active. Currently having a recess in the back yard with her flock.
I, on the other hand am depressed and very concerned. Tending to cocoon and keep to myself through the trouble times. Thank you for all the kindness and concern for me and mine.
