They are young, never had a dog before & are too smart to listen to anybodys advice.
Major dislike! What kind of snake is that?
Ugh! The worst kind of people!! And the animals suffer for it.

Oh no, that's terrible! Can't say I blame youI admit to having a prejudice against GSDs.
After the neighbors pair attacked the other neighbors cat, growled at my 80 year old father on my property, charged my DH, killed one of my chickens and did this to Ben, I just don't like the breed.

Dh and I went to eat late yesterday afternoon (Cracker Barrel), and on the way back I noticed a sign that said German Shepherd puppies for sale. On a whim, we stopped in. We talked with the owner for quite some time. First off, the pups are at least 5 months old, and on the skinny side, with dull coats. One of the females, she's not selling. I asked why she waited so long to start selling them. According to her, she didn't wait, but she doesn't advertise, or list them, she only puts the signs out by the road, and these are what she has left. I suspect they had parvo, and they're just getting into decent enough condition to attempt selling.
Secondly I asked about how they got along with other animals. Well, she had a cat, but the parents killed it. They've also killed other cats that have wandered on to the property, and have taught the pups this behavior. I mentioned we have 2 cats. Then she added "they're German Shepherds, so you know how that goes". I listened, without commenting, but no, I don't know how that goes. Growing up, we owned a couple good German Shepherds. They got along fine with my poodle, cats, and cockatiel. I've heard, and seen a lot of ads complaining about this breed not getting along with other animals. Maybe it has to do with us raising ours with other animals, or they were of a better temperament, and disposition, but neither of my German Shepherds had problems with other animals. In fact, they were a herding dog, so all of this high level "other animal" aggression is somewhat contrary to what their true nature should be.
Thirdly, they are not AKC registered, but NKC registered. NKC registration can be very iffy. The dad looked good, but they would not let us see the female. Too aggressive for them to control. Not exactly the temperament I'm looking for.
She was only asking $1,000.00 per pup. I'll pass.
I didn't want to double post. In the posts below are some pictures of the area in which I live and Girona one of the major Catalan cities.

Same can be said of pit bulls...but the same thing can be said of any animal, it all depends on the animals owner. That is very true!!! People will think all GSDs are aggressive and mean and nasty from these pups and their parentspeople don’t care if the dog is a bad example of the breed, they just know it is that breed.
I tend to agree with you Tonya, my grandfather was attacked by a neighbor's GSD, on my grandfather's property, sneaked up from behind and sank it's teeth into his thigh, the neighbor didn't apologize, offer to pay for the emergency bill, or anything. Another bad owner, this dog even bit the neighbor's 3 year old son. SMHI admit to having a prejudice against GSDs.

A friend of mine has a GSD, it's the biggest goofball I have ever seen, big lovable dog but at the same time if something triggered a bad response it wouldn't be a pretty sight ...that dog could do some serious damage to something or someone.
The scariest experience I had with a dog was a GS. One evening I went to visit a boyfriend at his dad's service station/garage. I walked in the bay only to get knocked to one side while the BF shoved off the dog that was flying through the air straight for the back of my head. The dog never made a sound, thank goodness the BF saw it coming.
Turned out the BF's dad had got the dog from a cop as a theft deterrent. That dog was so mean and uncontrollable, the police wouldn't keep him. I knew the cop that trained their K-9 dogs, he was an excellent trainer but this one dog was untrainable and vicious. After BF told his dad what happened, his dad decided to put the dog down. Too much liability.
I've known good ones too (actually had one for a brief while, until he was stolen). But that experience made me leery of them unless I know they've been well trained.
