I run 1 cockbird to 5 or 6 hens. You can run several cockbirds together as long as no females are anywhere near the vicinity of the males....even that's a toss up sometimes...ring necked pheasants are highly territorial and aggressive at times toward eachother.Ok I'm officially jealous, those are beautiful Sean. I'm pretty sure I would need a permit to raise them but I want! Are they kept separate except when breeding or can a pair live together?
In general, it's 1 cockbird per pen, unless you have an insanely huge pen.
ETA-
If you run only a pair, the hen will be harrassed relentlessly during breeding season and could lead to the death of the hen.
