Is it an illusion my old eyes are creating or did something grayish colored hit the fence from the outside ?

I've watched it over and over but can't see anything. I'll look for a gray blur. There is a catbird that nested in the quince. Maybe she startled them.

Who? Other than you, I mean. The rooster took a couple of quick strides going under the chair, and comes right back out. A small, light colored thing appears briefly at ground level on the left about 2 seconds into the video; maybe a cat or something broke cover from under the shrubbery and startled them?

I know what you mean. About the only green we have around here are the cottonwood trees around the golf course. And right now they are shedding their "cotton". It's allergy season, yay

Yuck! The course must be green though right? Do you still have grass in your yard?

A cat can't get in the pen without getting through the poultry netting.
If you look, Fabio was napping when the commotion starts and does take a few steps. I'm not going to knock off points for that.

Now you know I had to go and check. What a tool. You almost got me in trouble as I created a post that might have been trolling (I very maturely resisted posting) - I have always been easily led into trouble.

Good morning, Cafe. Thanks for the coffee, Shad. Sorry to hear poor Tackle gave up on the eggs. What are you going to do with them? I assume no one hatched last night.

My third bare bellied broody girl is ramping up her efforts. I wonder if she remains semi-broody by the time the chicks hatch if Barb will allow her to co-parent. I'm not about to let her in with Barb. I'm going to continue working on breaking her. I'm just curious as to what her behavior will be when the chicks hatch. If they hatch. I never candled anything. Barb is on her own with this adventure other than me providing her a safe place to raise them for the first week then I'm opening the door to the brooder so she can rejoin the flock when she is ready.

Nope, no more hatched. I took the eggs and the dead chick up the track this morning and left them for whoever. Only two of the other eggs were fertile and partly developed.
Live and learn eh. I can't think what possessed me to try a double sit again.
