And on a side note... who is the weirdo posting all that rambling nonsense on K9SPY's intro thread? I see he's been a member for a while, but the posts are really odd.
Things that make you go "hmmmm".
I saw the beginnings of that yesterday, but just went and read the rest. Hitting the sauce a little early maybe?

I can't watch your video! But glad to hear Fabio didn't run and hide in a corner haha.

Nope, no more hatched. I took the eggs and the dead chick up the track this morning and left them for whoever. Only two of the other eggs were fertile and partly developed.
Live and learn eh. I can't think what possessed me to try a double sit again.:he

The little two mama family.

If you look, Fabio was napping when the commotion starts and does take a few steps. I'm not going to knock off points for that.

Nor would I - he's a chicken, not a superhero. A bird that blindly throws himself at any threat isn't brave, it's stupid, and will be killed long before any chicks he happened to father hatch. I think a lot of people overestimate a rooster's ability to protect their flocks; sometimes, sounding the alarm while heading for cover is the only smart thing to do.

Hens are smaller, quicker, and generally less noticeable than roosters. I suspect that a lot of the roo's that have been credited as dying "nobly protecting their flocks" were simply easier for the predator to catch.
