BYC Café

I was, but then the storms turned up. I can get wet here.:hmm
I have a couple of friends who live on the coast who I go and see when I think I'm talking to the chickens too much. There is a quiet relatively unspoilt bay near them and we meet there and sit in the shade with a fish lunch surveying the nutters cooking in the sun.
We'll meet up when the storms have blown over.

That sounds like a lovely getaway.

Come back in another 50 years IM and they'll retire you at 50 anyway because there won't be jobs for you to do.

I already see folks my age working as baggers at the grocery store and fast food workers...I feel quite blessed to have a job that isn't one of those...old men with gray hair should NOT be pushing carts in the parking lot when it's 115*. I'll stop there before I get myself in trouble.

Mornin', y'all!:frow

Raining here too. I think the ranch will be under quarantine tonight... vesicular stomatitis is what I think a horse has here. We will see what the vet has to say. Not my horse, not my bill, but still my quarantine, sigh. At least I do not have a horse pack trip scheduled!

Gads, what a mess. As good as it would be for the horse to have something else, my faith in you as an experienced animal keeper trusts your eye and judgement. I'm hoping and praying that this situation resolves as quickly and painlessly as possible for all concerned, and the dark cloud of quarantine will swiftly vanish! (A barn I worked at had a strangles outbreak in the past, and 10+ years later, it was still getting referred to as 'the strangles barn' by some. Knowing the owner and the backstory, yeah, he absolutely deserved the negative publicity.)

Last night I bought a pinto mare from a deceased friend - it was a dream folk. It's been a recurring dream, but I believe the traveling salesman from "Oklahoma" was going to buy her, and I didn't want him to have her.

Hmmm. Turning into a "White Knight," are we?:hugs

Good morning, Cafe! Thanks for that fresh pot, Sean.
DH's daughter texted me that she and her family are in the area and will come for a visit this weekend. She is a chicken keeper too and loves to see the progress on the coop. She doesn't yet know about Barb and the kids.
We are also starting to warm back up although, as Sour mentioned, it's not as humid so it is tolerable.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday... even IM and NFC who will be covered in salt when they get home!

Good Morning! Thanks for the coffee and the fritters.
It is cloudy and 57 with rain coming in, monsoons, oiy... like we didn't have enough rain already.
Yes, it is VS. The bloodwork will come in next week but that is just a formality. So far, my horse is fine. We shall see what the bugs do and if any of the other horses come down with it. It is being carried by gnats this year and fly spray and other stuff is ineffective for the most part but we have some pour on strong stuff to use. That is the project for the morning. I use the same stuff on the sheep.
Have a wonderful day!

Well guess what? I went to get my computer up and running so I'd be ready for the day. Pulled up my schedule...I'd scheduled today off as a random SURPRISE! you deserve a break today. I'm ecstatic!

I have some things to get done in the coops and I can get out there this morning and still have time to go to the park tomorrow with the pups :yesss:

Not to worry, I'll be covered in my own salt when I'm done...it's already warm out there. I'd still rather go out there and sweat than sit on the phone listening to people whine all day :)
