I've got rooster problems. Punch and Mag don't have any hens out with them. They're looking for hens now. The hen they've got their eye on is Myth. Myth is a bantam and did for a while live with the rest of the bantams. Myth is also the baby killer.
Now Myth lives with Tribe 3 of which Notch is the rooster. Notch used to be a bully. He was so aggressive he managed to break one spur off chasing another rooster through a wire fence and a few days later knocked the other off fighting with Punch. There's grievance there.
Notch is at a disadvantage without spurs. He has stood up for himself but he can't fight properly without spurs. I try and keep the peace. When everyone has hens it's relatively easy. The roosters aren't looking and the disputes tend to be more like shouting at each other over a garden fence.
Punch and Mag launched quite a serious attack on Notch this evening. Notch ran which is the wise thing to do.
Normally when I break up fights I just step in between the pair and block them until the blood settles. Not so easy with three. I had to sweep Punch off his feet tonight. It doesn't do them any harm but I don't really want weeks of having to deal with this behavior.
I'm going to have to evict at least one of the sitting hens, preferably two to help keep the peace.
