I've got rooster problems. Punch and Mag don't have any hens out with them. They're looking for hens now. The hen they've got their eye on is Myth. Myth is a bantam and did for a while live with the rest of the bantams. Myth is also the baby killer.
Now Myth lives with Tribe 3 of which Notch is the rooster. Notch used to be a bully. He was so aggressive he managed to break one spur off chasing another rooster through a wire fence and a few days later knocked the other off fighting with Punch. There's grievance there.
Notch is at a disadvantage without spurs. He has stood up for himself but he can't fight properly without spurs. I try and keep the peace. When everyone has hens it's relatively easy. The roosters aren't looking and the disputes tend to be more like shouting at each other over a garden fence.
Punch and Mag launched quite a serious attack on Notch this evening. Notch ran which is the wise thing to do.
Normally when I break up fights I just step in between the pair and block them until the blood settles. Not so easy with three. I had to sweep Punch off his feet tonight. It doesn't do them any harm but I don't really want weeks of having to deal with this behavior.
I'm going to have to evict at least one of the sitting hens, preferably two to help keep the peace.:(

Any music but the yelly stuff welcome here ... dinner takes twist and turns as I look in the fridge stuffing bell peppers so made rice in beef both sausage and bacon to fill them rice mixed in.. my scream for the day lost 2 more of the peeps that pig pilled from the auction I am so ticked at that

Lordy, sorry for your troubles, Shad. Have you had two gang up on another before?

By the way, Cheap Shot tried to put the run on me in the coop last night. I stuck my foot up just in time, that fella is getting much more sturdy on his feet and far more accurate than he used to be. So I talked to him as he attacked my boot, and slowly let it down as I turned my body at an angle from him and he raised his head, lowered his hackles and walked away. I'm finding this much more helpful than trying to run his ass off. :smackNot really sure if this behavior is going to subside. Any suggestions?

All hatched yes.

There's one that's still questionable in the incubator. I'm going to give it some vitamins and see if that helps.

So cute! :love

So this afternoon they had a 'life celebration' for Jerry. Well, it was all there - pictures of his childhood, family, dogs - all of it, and then there was a viewing with an open casket ? I'm standing in line with fellow mourners, ribbon and win money from the last trial in hand ready to hand it to Sue, Jerry's wife. I'm looking at what's left of him in that box, and the voices came out "Here Buddy this is yours" as I laid the ribbon on his chest. Sue saw and heard me and started crying - me too. I said, "I don't know if that's appropriate or not, but it's his." The turnout was as you might expect - family, friends, co workers, folks from the sport. The drive out there was horrendous. Evening traffic on the Pa. Turnpike, and Jerry's voice in my head saying, "Squirrel, why are you doing this ?" "Because I love you, man." I dreaded this all day long, but it was good. The ride home was joyous and peaceful. It now looks as if I am responsible for rehoming his dogs. I'll get it done.
