Now if you ever want to catch a Shad, you'll know what kind of bait to use.

Wait really!? I wonder if maybe that’s causing me to get sick more haha I figured it was the screen itself/posture and stuff causing issues aha although I do think that’s part of the migraines or at least some of them.

The screens are disgusting, but a lot of stuff gets trapped in the case too. I have a clear case & you can see the debris in there. Its totally gross, but seeing it is a good reminder to take it off & clean it.

I'm glad we have so few daytime ground predators here.

It's a rare occasion you see a raccoon around here, but we are next to a creek bottom and also have a running creek/pond (spring fed) on our property, so they're definitely around. I've got grain, hay and chickens in the barn...pretty prime raccoon treats This is only the second I've seen in 10 yrs. The first one we caught in a live trap trying to catch a skunk.

Yes, people are always touching things with germs and then pick up their phone. Think about it. You sneeze, cover your mouth with your hand. Then put your hand on the phone.

Money has the worst reputation.

I have seen a couple porcupines and quite a few skunks. Smell than more often than you see them

One of the great visual wildlife events we get here is when the a particular butterfly descends on the rotting figs. The figs partially ferment and the butterflies, all males I'm told get pissed on the fig juice and start fighting. Some years I've seen 40 or more of these butterflies on a single fig tree.

Agreed. Also I never sneeze into my hands. It completely grosses me out. I taught all my kids to sneeze into the crook of their arm.

It's getting to be that time of year. Weather is cooling down and things start looking for meals. And mice try to get in the house (that's the terrifying one to me ).

When we bought our house and started working on it to get it habitable, I frequently saw mice running along the top of the poured concrete basement wall.

Another day I rescued a toad that had fallen into the basement.

I had to replace some shut off valves and reroute some plumbing on the incoming water line and had left some black plastic pipes cut open. I found a garter snake inside one and took it outside and then left for lunch. When I came back the same snake was crawling along the basement wall. I guess it really wanted to be inside the house!

When I was measuring the basement window ROs for new windows from outside the house, I pulled the aluminum siding out from the house and had three garter snake drop out.

Oh, and then there were the dark eyed juncos that kept building a nest inside the kitchen wall when we were gutting the house.

I also found an old honey bee nest between the walls when I tore the drywall off between the end bedrooms.

This is some prime piece of real estate we're talking about here!!
