Today is my grandson's 17th birthday. Tomorrow he takes his driving test. Another one to worry about. He just wants a family dinner at his home - that's where we are heading. I am taking my daughter 5 of my ripe tomatoes - now that's an expression of love.

Ma's husband the last 30 years was a master carpenter cabinet maker I have the cabinet he made to house the stereo he made. Even when the 70's turntable died had to keep the cabinet it is blonde wood just very nicely done

Unfortunately I'm far from cabinet maker skill level.

Coffee is made.
A bit chilly, for me anyway, here and very windy. Lots of bright sunshine though and the summer yellows are being replaced by greens. Despite being autumn something is always growing.

I'm making a set of these atm. I've reinvented the egg cup!
I've never understood why egg cups come as wobbly vase type things that knock over easily.
This takes most size eggs as well.

He made everything from toys to furniture. I only have a few of his things, but here they are:
A few of his bowls (the large one he made for my grandmother, when she died it came to me)

He made a lot of sets of candlestick holders:

This last piece he made from a scrap of walnut and put in an old metal spike. I hung my spurs on it.

I also have the 2 footstools he made for me back in the '70s. Couldn't get a picture of those, the cats kept sitting on them

All of this is so nice. I love hand crafted items and would certainly treasure anything that came down from the family.
I purchased a wooden bowl hand crafted and displayed at a Bluegrass Festival in West Virginia. It doesn't have sentimental value but it is a nice piece.
