BYC Café

I was out once walking in a thick fog - but on the grass (no shoulders on that particular road) and hollering at all the drivers who were supposed to have front lights on. Some PITA called the police and said a crazy woman was hollering at the drivers.By the time the police car came I was just a poor old lady with arthritis trying to stay upright on the grass away from the road. Police knew me and just ignored it.
There was a similar story(in that police ignored a complaint call) about the wild Turkeys in Woodland. A person called dispatch about a Turkey in the City. Dispatch called a patrolman and asked if Animal control should be called. The Patrolman said to leave the turkey alone!

We are supposed to have our headlights on here anytime we use the windshield wipers. So many ignore that law here too!

Caffeine does leech calcium from bones and not recommended for people with osteoporosis

https://www.webmd.com/osteoporosis/features/diet-dangers
The problem is that the studies have been limited and from rats. The recommendation is to get more calcium and drinking coffee is likely fine if the diet is good if you limit the amount. One sources says you lose 6 mg from each 100mg of caffeine. Most calcium pills are in the 200mg range and a cup of coffee is about 80mg of caffeine. A couple of cups a day will not hurt you and

There has been quite a few studies that show coffee protecting us from death from all causes.

This kind of reminds me of the weird things MDs are telling people about iodine which is causing a lot of problems with people getting enough iodine.

A baby was treated with radioactive iodine by mistake and he died. This was then applied to non radioactive iodine and iodine has been reduced by up to half in iodized salt!

All this stuff is so weird!

I'm not allowed to do certain things because of my thyroid.

I do believe everything should be consumed in moderation. I think things like green tea are more beneficial than coffee especially coffee that has cream and sugar... Both aren't healthy.

Yes!

Even green tea has been associated with bad outcomes recently, especially the pill version.

Too much green tea will cause kidney damage.

Green tea is good for you, but only if drunk in moderation. While the polyphenols in green tea are credited with preventing heart disease and cancer, it seems they can cause liver and kidney damage if consumed in very large quantities, a review of studies into the toxicity of polyphenols has shown.

I drink a cup a day or I drink other teas like peach or chamomile. I missed tea, I just recently started drinking it again. I don't know why I stopped drinking it.

They keep coming up with so many supposedly researched things that I question a lot. Like coconut oil... I use coconut oil in a lot of things and supposedly they say it will kill you  but coconuts are supposed to be healthy.

The air we breathe probably kills us faster than anything else, but we kind of need oxygen.

Morning, all! Thanks for the coffee @N F C. Your avatar is too cute!

Caffeine doesn't do much for me. I can drink coffee at night and go to bed with no issue. I rarely do that, though. But I'll never give up my coffee! Should maybe think about calcium supplements...:p
Your not on the coke as well are you Meg? No wonder those Colombians are making so much money.
