Due to my laziness, depression, lack of motivation or some combination of the three, I still haven't wired up the run flood light and receptacle. So I've been doing the coop cleaning before dawn with 28 chickens milling about my feet and scurrying along the poop boards.

Sarge, Fabio's only remaining male progeny, has been making a real nuisance of himself as Big Daddy has been letting him do what he pleases with the girls. This morning after I tossed Sarge off of three screaming girls, Fabio FINALLY stepped up and slammed the boy in the back for his troubles. Sarge behaved the rest of the time I was in there. I hope Fabio starts to keep him in check a little better now.
I've got him advertised but no takers. His brother had the looks but Sarge is a really nice boy... unless you poll the pullets.

South Texas freezing? That doesn't sound right...did you take a turn to the north on your way home from work?

When I lived further up in the Sacramento Valley, We had a couple of nights that hit about 15F. Everyone uses pvc pipes in their water supply systems. After the freeze, there was a shortage of pvc pipe in the area as lots of people needed to fix their water supply!

We are not setup for freezing here

I bet! Unexpected/unplanned for weather can take a toll.

Chicken TV!

The way the flock follows along while I'm cleaning and doing my morning chores, I feel like the central character in human TV for chickens. They make it a 3D experience. Karrie attempted to steal a glove out of my pocket.

Squatch is loving his brother not being there! He's in his full glory with all these girls.

Coco has changed drastically! She never had white or black on her face until a few weeks ago.
