BYC Café

There is one thing to be said for the trouble makers, you NEVER forget them. Our first Cocker champion finished her title in 6 shows with 3 majors(with a handler). Till the day she she had to be put down at 14, she never got lead broken. She always hopped, skipped, spun around, got legs caught in the lead etc. But as one judge said, when she finally hit her stride she is fantastic.

When she decided it was dinner time, she would strum the chain link bars and utter her continuous song of " uh uh uh uh uh uh." She would also drool all over. We got used to it. But when I sent her out for breeding, a very upset stud owner called to let me know she thought the dog was having a fit of some kind.I reassured her that"NO, she just decided it's time to eat." I'm sure she was thrilled to send her home.

She later had 8 puppies 6 orange/red 1 silver and one buff. First time I ever took reservations- the orange reds were sold out at birth. So of course they died one by one for ???? reason and just had the silver and the buff. Never jinxed a litter again by taking reservations.

Great story Meg and I love the pictures.:love
What does your St Bernard make of the cattle?
Glad you liked it, Shad! It's kind of funny you asked, because I've told my husband I think she wants to work them :p She's pretty high anxiety and slower than molasses. That, does not a good cow dog make! Nahla is a lover, though. So, maybe she thinks we're hurting them? I wish they could talk!

BTW we called her "The Whirling Dervish." When she passed, I swear I heard her out in the kennel doing her "uh uh uh uh uh." routine.

She produced 4 champions- spent about half a day with her new borns and then BTW wanted OUT. Fortunately her kennel mate would have a litter at about the same time and was thrilled to take care of blond puppies. She was a dominant black and only had black or Black & tan.pups. I know they claim dogs are color blind but our black girl loved the blond ones more than her own. She was a fantastic mother and yes, did care for her black pups too.

BTW she produced 8 black champions by my own Ch.stud(orange/red).

Good thing because you always seem to have too many and need to sell some!

No Meg, ALL your cattle are black, DH said so. I think you need to get your eyes checked. Me too, I saw a lovely red and lovely white animal in those pictures!

I would think so, very hard to control the broom in a stiff wind.
Aren't they perty, those all black cows??
