I had a really bad gardening year in 2019. Japanese beetles came and killed everything.

I do want to try again. Maybe I can get some tips from everyone.

I want to do tomatoes, jalapenos, cilantro, parsley, oregano, and green onions.

It's always Sunny here with no shade
I don't know anything about Japanese beetles. Is that something that can be deterred or do you have any chance at killing them off? It's always a bummer to go through all the work and lose your crop :(

Do you plan on doing a garden plot or using pots or both? I do my tomatoes, cilantro and oregano in pots. If I have excess tomatoes I put them in the ground. One of the pepper plants I bought last year had a teeny tiny cilantro stem sharing it's pot and I put that in the garden, as well. It grew pretty darn good! I've always done onions in the garden, but you could do them in pots as well.

You can use bug bags, pesticides, or use plants that they kill to distract them. I had zero success with doing anything anyone recommended to me. The pesticides that I used were organic ones and they didn't work, I didn't want to use anything stronger because you don't want to use strong pesticides on food you're eating.

My husband made me 4x4 garden boxes, there are two of them. I can also plant in pots as well, but I'm unsure what size I would need.

The fruit that I just ordered I am going to be putting those in big pots because we plan on moving within the next year so I want all my plants to be able to be moved.

I want to start making homemade salsa... We want to do peach, pineapple, restaurant style, and chunky. So whatever I need to do salsa is probably what I'll be growing. I've been addicted to salsa lately.

I hope you've got the okay to do this. Don't want there to be a riff in the fam dynamic over chickens. I know we had a set limit here that we agreed upon as a family.

Nah but I’m sure they’ll be fine with it. I’m gonna break the news to my mom tonight. :lau

I’m gonna build the coops before I get them this time. They don’t arrive till mid April.

I believe they even come barred like Barred Rocks.

Yup! They do! As well as partridge, laced, and about a million other colors and patterns haha
