BYC Café

Australia is a good place to be, for sure

Have any of you ever visited?

Sometimes interesting things do happen, especially out here in the sticks. Yesterday I woke up and there were 30 sheep in my front yard. That doesn't happen every day! They belonged to a neighbour and got spooked by some dogs we think, and busted through all their fences until they got to our place. The neighbour eventually figured out they were all here, and came with his sheep dogs to round them up and drive them away.

I'm up early today as I have to hoof off to the clinic and collect another grab-bag of drugs, in preparation for my next cycle. I have a 2 hour drive ahead of me, and unlike last time hubby is not able to come - he has to work today. So I'm on my own, off to a city I don't know very well. If you never hear from me again I am lost in the Big Smoke, lol. This will be a true test of the GPS's ability I think!

The good news - as if we needed more - is that on route there is an AMAZNG bakery which makes the best lemon meringue pies. I am leaving enough time for a stop in on the way. And the way back. Well, a woman has to eat!

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Well, I've been watching through the window for a few days now, concentrating on my new little ducklings, turkey and chicks. Finally getting a second to stop in for a sit-down, a piece of cake and a diet coke!

You guys really crack me up and make me smile. I believe this is going to be the only place I stop in this BYC town from now on. Nice, fun, friendly folks, instead of know-it-alls! I'll just leave my rant there and eat my cake.

Rooting for you Krista!

Agreed. We are always pretty busy out here, but I always make time to go to the Café! Everyone is so friendly and supportive, and we owe Trib a big "Thank You!" for opening the Café in the first place

Off to work for me today. I did 4 hours driving in total yesterday and today will be another 3. I'm exhausted, and the 5am start today did not go down well!

I met with my Clinic Co-Ordinator yesterday to go over my new drug regime. I am thrilled that this time I am taking tablets and only have to give myself one injection a day. I don't start for a couple of weeks, but I'm ready to when the time rolls around.

Feeling positive!

Have a great day everyone,

Good for you Krista!
My broody is definitely in lockdown. We shall see what happens. If there are chicks that hatch, I will have to shore up their pen as their roomies next door are my son's dogs, a husky and a heeler, who would love nothing more than to eat chicken. I think that I will possibly even string up the hot wire if they are going to stay here more than a few weeks. Right now, things are good because there is a gap between the creatures, but that gap will be Psycho Broody's outside playground for her chicks.
My garden is growing and we have snow coming in and they are not saying how much.... hope these plants have a sense of humor!
I am jealous of your turkeys Natalie!

If you have any 3 gallon pots that you can put over the garden plants, it might help save them.
I use them to keep the frost off, maybe it will keep the snow from crushing them.

Oh goodness, that's kinda what I said about my dog... he loves the taste of chicken! Best of luck with Psycho and the babies... and the pups!

I only had one little turkey make it, 4 ducks. The ducks were kinda mean to the turkey, so I bought a couple golden comets to put in a separate brooder with the turkey. It seems happier with the chicks lol

I love this little turkey though. Self-blue Slate. Her name is Gemma, until I know whether its a boy or girl. I guess it will be Jimmy if it turns out to be male lol!

9 days old, amazing how fast the flight feathers are growing:

I'm tired and I think its time for an adult beverage!

Do all turkeys have such long middle toes?

So, you named her/him so I assume she/he will be a pet?

I am going kayaking today with my family. I made apple slices and turkey samiches. (don't tell Gemma)
...and then the irrigation broke at the nursery. So...

I don't care when it happens.
I'll be out there at midnight beating off the alligators, but I am going. and they are going with me.The mom has spoken.

Work is getting in the way of my happiness.
