BYC Café

what I normally tell my wife, is that cheap usually ends up costing us more........

I didn't buy the most expensive covering, because I expect that to rot away, but did spend more on making sure it was secure.

I'm really pleased so far, we have had it about a year, and no tears to mend, and it seems to be holding up really well.

This is the big one I got. It was super cool for about 6 months. I even built a cool compost / tool storage area in back to add extra heat for winter. When it started coming apart I bought a cheap one to put up inside it for the winter but lost that one this year to the wind.
Yeah something like that would not last very long here either. But if I could take it down for the winter months, maybe.

The shelter logic shed we have is doing great 4 years now and except for the dog tearin it up.

But the green house fabric wont hold up.

I still have the framing to a 10 X 10 and a 10 X 20 structure but dont know what kind of fabric will hold up I loved the space in the big one but the plants did better in the small one.

they were 20' long.

this made a hoop, that was approx 10' wide, and around 7'-6" tall.

you could use 10' and then set up a center rail at the peak tho. I just didn't want any joints in the hoop portion for strength.

This is my greenhouse, a couple of years ago:

Obviously, that's commercial-grade greenhouse film, which is UV stabilized . Even the pro's have to replace it every 3 years or so. The stuff we have on it right now has an IR coating as well; it's surprising how much that helps to hold heat.

We've grown a bunch of things in our greenhouse, but the thing that grows most is frustration. Right now, almost all of one bench is covered in tomato vines. Critter is very close to tossing the whole lot of them out in the cold. The tomatoes are bearing, but something is eating them just as they start to ripen.

great looking greenhouse.

sounds like you need to leave your cat in there for a few nights.
mine is very similar, except I used 1x4 for the stripping, to hold the hoops in place, and give some added strength. Plus mine is not nearly as wide as yours.

FYI for those of you wondering, trampoline jumping mats, will NOT block weeds!!!
