Scott, for the base, I used 2" pipe, with reducing tees, and then used 2" pipe straps to attach all of them to a treated 2x6

then , rather than gluing the 1" pipe in the tees, I used a screw that went thru the tee, the 1" pipe and into the 2x6.

I had to go to home depot for the 20' long pipe. it's still pretty dang cheap.

A few years ago, Critter put a walk-in cold frame in the garden made of PVC pipe in much the way you have described, Bert.. It worked pretty well; the one problem we had with it was how much it moved around. He had fastened it to some mobile home anchors, but we had some very windy weather and the thing flexed and danced around so much it broke the fastenings.

The house we have now is about 20' x 50'. The ribs are made of wood - Critter took some 2x lumber, and ripped it down to about 3/8" strips. He built a jig, and laminated the ribs using a bunch of clamps and an ocean of wood glue. It has lasted through a couple of respectable snows, so I have to say he done pretty good!

I'm fortunate, that I can model anything prior to building. helps with material list and if I have odd cuts to make.

we don't have snow, but do have some respectable winds, especially during the spring, 30 mph winds with gust up to 50 mph, and then when we get fronts blowing in.

it's really held up well.

I will fill the rings with hay, stuff it in there good, then fill the middle with soil......

Where did you buy the plastic wrap from?
