The do go fast sometimes!I had one die at about 2wks this season too. I have no idea why. She looked good, growing out well, eating, drinking, jumping up on the perch, poops looked normal... Then one morning out of nowhere didn’t look good & died in about an hour.So sad & so shocking. I’ve never had that happen before. She was my prettiest chick too.

I know! This is only the second time in my chicken life that I’ve lost a baby chick. It’s horrible.
I can’t wait till the VND restrictions are gone so I can buy from BYC locals again. Seriously, CV19 & VND all at the same time.![]()
The broody raised girls I've had do seem to be more wary of everything. Zorra is a Hatchery bird and seemed pretty much oblivious to anything before I gave her the first batch of hatchery chicks when she was 3. Boy did she get attentive to EVERYTHING.I think broody raised birds learn more in a shorter space of time and seem more predator aware.
Probably because you can see the light at the end of the tunnel and want to get thereFor some reason, I seem to be quite revved up about getting back to work on my dad's house.
I didn't realize how many died in the Civil War (which wasn't very civil). This is an interesting little bit of a chart.
Civil wars are nearly always the most deadly. Some of them have an element of genocide in themThe broody raised girls I've had do seem to be more wary of everything.
