BYC Café

Good morning everyone! Reading along.

Hope everyone is keeping power and staying warm! Sometimes I am really happy I live in Washigton. We never seem to have extreme weather in any way. I grew up in Northern CA and it's the same there. I don't even know what a blizzard looks like! I do think of the old pioneers when I hear about the Midwest weather...how in the world they survived is amazing to me!!!

I am standing in the same spot.

Way back when they did a lot of preparing for winter all summer.

It is sunny, not so warm, but not snowing anymore. I guess we topped out just shy of a couple of feet. My sheep were all the same color this AM - white. It is amazing how pretty it is out there. The kitten got to go outside and play in the snow. He loves it and I had to grab him to go back in after chicken chores. He got some canned cat food for his troubles as he did NOT want to be inside. I shoveled the run and the birds graced me with their presence for a quick minute for scratch and then, poof - back inside.

I had to bring the dog inside today. She can handle the cold, but she couldn't keep dry. I found her huddled by the door shivering. So she is freshly bathed and inside. She is rather miserable, but until she is dry she stays in.

I am back from having coffee with a neighbor and brought them some eggs. He was out again today plowing my driveway. I have to feed horses this evening and bring over some hot water to their tank. Can't imagine what else I could do for fun...... kiddo is going sledding, maybe I will do a sneak snowball attack.....

Wow, it IS really pretty...I apologize to your DH for that! I do love the look of freshly fallen snow...then I want it to go away like the next day...like, okay, I'm done!

That's exactly it! I hate when it gets dirty...like when the plow comes by. Yuck! And when it gets mashed down and turns to ice and gets slicker than snot...as my grandpa used to say. We had about three weeks of this not to long ago (very unusual for around here) and I landed on my behind twice slipping on the snow/ice.
