BYC Café

Morning! The winds kicked up and you can imagine what it did with all of that fresh snow. Whooweeee! I have a bit of shoveling to do, but I am not sure about keeping the coop hatch open for the birds. I have three options and maybe there will be one that will not create issues for the birds. A very big maybe with 45mph gusts. Besides, it is cold out there too. Okay, I just looked. It is 7. There will be no hatch staying open today. They can just play nice or off to the stew pot they go.....
Coffee anyone?

Morning Margie!

Wind + loose snow = manual labor, the only question is who's.
How hungry for chicken are you?
Have the best day you can Margie!

DH cannot say no to thing 1 so when she begged to go with him to do chores, he said ok. Of course he got the pickup stuck in a drift

So he had to leave thing 1 in the pickup, walk in 16 degree windy knee high snow to go get the tractor. I met him there with thing 2 and we got a tractor ride to the pickup where there sat a very scared little 3 year old. Thing 1 is now getting to drive the tractor and feed the cows. The pickup is free, and I know I am going to be expected to drive it to the shed

Just a little excitement in what was to be a very quiet day.

7o and 45 mph winds sounds like a good reason to stay indoors to me! Too bad you can't explain it to the birds - "look, gang, I know that when you stay cooped up like this, you get under each others' feathers and up each others' beaks, but the only other option turns you into chickencicles, so let's not be birdbrained about this, OK? Just settle down, and try not to ruffle each other's feathers any more than you have to." But that doesn't work on children (or some adults, come to think of it), so why in the world would it work on chickens?

Gads, I hate days like this. We had over 2 inches of rain last night (so yes, everything's under water again), and more coming down. When it's dark and cloudy like this, it seems like I just can't get awake enough to do anything. I can get enough caffeine in me to make me too restless to sit still, but I'm still groggy and unfocused.

At least she was willing to go ahead and do the chores.
Does DH understand the value of young ones hearing the word no?
Hope that the rest of day is nice and quiet.

I do not know that he does :D. Really he likes taking her, and because yesterday went surprisingly smoothly, he figured, so did I, it was safe. Oh well we are all good right now as long as long i can safely drive the pickup home. I am a little nervous.

Oh yes both my girls will happily tromp through knee high muck to do farm chores, but they want to look good while doing it :D

Yikes, Margie & BL, hope you can both stay indoors today!

OFW, not a fun way to start the day.  Hope all is calm now.

Oh & good morning to all of you!

Good morning, I get this pickup home I will breathe sigh of relief.
