I have read about problems getting signed up for unemployment!
It was H E double hockey sticks for most everyone in VT that got laid off. Majorly old system written in COBOL running on old big iron. Worked fine when the new claims per week was a few hundred. Everything broke when it was many, many thousands. There isn't even a way to put in an email address for contact, there was no such thing as email when this system was created.

Sooooo, what is this brining of which you speak.:p:D
I did it once. Ended up with the saltiest turkey ever and the gravy was REALLLLLLLLLY salty. Not doing that again.

This morning, the forecast was for mostly sunny with a high around 90°. Around noon, they included a slight chance of showers or thundershowers (20%). Naturally, we had to get thunderstomped earlier this afternoon; now it's looking like it wants to do it again before the day is done.

Is it any wonder I can't stick my nose out the door without getting pounced on by hordes of mosquitoes?
Skeeters are bad this year!

Here in California, people had to fill out paper forms

I think you'll like this one :D: http://www.cookingforengineers.com/article/70/Brining
I can't access that, sadly - no reason given except access forbidden :(
written in COBOL
that's a blast from the past! I think it must be 30 years since I've seen that word! :old
Legacy software is going to be a nightmare for us all sooner or later.

Presumably it was in too strong or too long. I got conflicting info from the website I was following and other sources over how long to brine, from 2 hours (the former) to up to 24 hours (the latter), and followed the former. I also rinsed it afterwards and threw away the brine as advised.
