we've going back into lockdown on Sunday
The restrictions are not as bad as the first time (no 5-mile rule, for example) but I had planned to go visit family in Devon next month

Well, we have no national policy with in excess of 200,000 dead. Folks here are becoming complacent . The middle of the country is having an upswing, and slight increases here on the East coast. I am maintaining my basically hermit ways. Princess not as much.

I use cheap walmart tubs with the front cut out.
Laying material I did buy on amamzon recently less poop on eggs
I had a hen eating eggs put the new material in the nesting boxes they stopped

That's good to know. Thanks, Ron. My hang-up on anything store bought, aside from nesting pads, is price. I have three coops, approx. 100 chickens and they would add up rather quickly.

I think this is what I bought I did rip the paper off the back but the birds like it

Yeah, those big plastic ones might work. I'd think you'd need something in them for the bird to get a foot hold. Yours lay just fine on the bare plastic or do you put something in them? I was going to order the ones Opa used for his, but the shipping is almost as much as the pads. It's still a lot cheaper than a premade rollout box...I found some similar pads on Amazon, I'm just not sure if the weft is directional like the Cutler supply ones are. They looked like hard spikes

I don't have anything on them , but I think carpet would be good.

Waht I liked with the fiber I bought they can make a nest in it but not through it out like shavings
