BYC Café

Medium sized birds with a strong game/bantam background. Everything would be good until the first autumn rains when all 'H' would break loose. I think once they got wet, they no longer recognized one another and the fighting would start with many roosters chasing and flogging one another. Every year in the autumn I would send several crates to the auction where they sold rapidly to certain ethnic communities. This was back in the late 60's. Then the Cooper's hawks rebounded, and chick survival was limited. Then the GHO found the flock and decimated them. It was at this point that I switched to Light Brown Leghorn bantams and kept my birds penned.

Me, the technophobe, post pictures. :lau
If I can do it, you can too.

Good to mow where I haven't been able to go since June.
Once again wish I had a grader for my little tractor.
Cleared a bit of area along house, with rakes, chip fork, and tossing the big pieces.
Getting some grass seed tomorrow for the barest steepest part,
to hold the dirt until the moss grows back in.
3 more days of perfect weather, the list is long.

One of my Beauty Berries...
it's a striking colour; first time my mum got that for flower arranging I thought she'd painted it! How big does it grow?
I’m looking into buying a weighted blanket. Does anyone have any experience with these?
An old-fashioned bedspread serves that purpose here, and I know a number of fans of them in the winter. They make the sleeper feel snug and warm, and stop lighter bedding materials slipping off in the night.

I have one in the front yard arrangement that is quite large at around 4' wide by 5'tall. The two flanking my front walkway are smaller at around 3' wide by 3' tall but I hope they grow a bit more. I have done nothing with my landscaping for obvious reasons. When all the construction is done, I intend to work on the hard and landscaping to get everything in order.

Good morning Cafe. Thanks for the coffee Cindy.
I slept in 2 hours this morning! It was great. I really needed it. The chickens didn't think much of my decision.
I'm going to repair that ripped out electric line to the front yard lamp post at dad's then try to get the new sliding glass door installed at mom's after I wrap the house. But all that waits until I take Bella and Skittles for a run with Shadow this morning.
Have a great day everyone.
