BYC Café

I didn't know you did yoga, Perris. That is something I always intended to try but never seem to find the time to start.
I'm a convert and would recommend it to anyone; it has really helped my flexibility and balance. I did a little a couple of decades back, and on and off since as opportunity arose, and I looked for a local class for some time, but couldn't find anything that worked with my schedule, and then - really ironically - when lockdown came I discovered a very local and appropriate (there are lots of different types; you want to find one that suits your needs) class that had just gone online and zooms them, and I've been doing it weekly since March. Of course it helps to be retired, so no schedule restraints anymore, but apparently there's lots online you can do in your own time (if you have any!). I now find e.g. reversing the car much easier as I can twist round much better, have got sound balance back even with my eyes shut, and I don't think I would've attempted climbing on roofs and up trees (as I have done the past 2 weeks) without them - the stiffness and nervousness that was beginning to set in these last couple of years has all gone again :D Give it a go!

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is brewed.
We've got drizzle here again and there's enough of a chill in the air that I've lit the stove. I've got no good kindling as I haven't had time to get a dry load of pallet scrap and my cord wood guy's face is still healing from the surgery after a limb hit him. You'd be surprised how easily you can lite a fire with snapped up bark peelings and a Pennysaver newspaper.

Not sure if it would work in a wood stove without some kindling, but....
...dryer lint loosely stuffed in toilet paper tubes works a treat.
Oh, how I wish y’all were here! I could load you up with sooooo much kindling. I have 2 massive old oaks in my back yard and these last couple hurricanes have absolutely cleaned them out for me! I’ve got more firewood than I need AND I’ve got a storm debris cleaner coming to work the yard today or tomorrow.

I had a ton of debris from Laura, not so much from Delta. Old live oaks do tend to have a lot of falling debris. Glad to hear you are safe and sound at least.

I hope you are safe as well! You may have actually gotten more action from Laura than we did. I live in Gonzales (basically a suburb of Baton Rouge & about an hour from New Orleans). We were really blessed this storm season. We were skirted by both of these storms. We got a lot of wind which felt nice and we got a lot of good rain, but personally no actual ill effects at my house. A woman two houses down on my road lost one of her oaks, but instead of landing in her house, it was cradled by the oak just a few feet closer to the front of her home. Blessed, I feel many of us here were blessed in countless ways this season!
