BYC Café

Hey! I was thinking that the 5 toed gene trait only passes to the second generation.. i.e., silkie offspring.. My hens all have 5 toes, as their genetics look like this BA/SH (hen) x Silkie (roo), Then I bred them to either BR or BSL (I have two of those hens in with each of my roos). One of my chicks has 5 toes.. very apparent now as they are nearing 3 weeks. So, it passes farther than just the next generation it appears.

Pretty wicked storm front moved thru yesterday afternoon/evening.
Blew the unlatched coop shed door open and soaked the floor(oops).
Lots of rain, some thunder lighting, high gusty winds<cringe>.
All is sunny and calm again, but colder.

Thanks for the coffee! Welcome to the Cafe, Baumshell! Wind, what wind? We are getting more Breeze tomorrow sometime, "West winds 30 to 50 mph with gusts up to 80 mph possible." I guess I should just enjoy the fresh air and be glad that the fires are not west of us. Lots to do today, so have a wonderful day, Cafe!

Good morning, cafe. Thanks for the coffee, DL & Sour.

The mums! It was not supposed to freeze last night. I should've trusted my gut, it felt like it was going to freeze. Instead, I shot out of bed at 4:30 because the thermometer read 24°f(-4°c), threw on a coat and slippers and took my poor mums to the pig barn. Eh, what a dummy, but they might survive :fl

You're right about animals loving the leftovers, Perris. Piggies especially!

Mtn Margie and Aart - the wind is awful here, too! Not at bad as Margie's, for sure, 30-40 mph and 60mph gusts. It supposed to get better by Thursday and then the snow hits Saturday. Very happy to have new tires.

Wishing everyone a happy Tuesday.

I hate walking around any trees when it's windy. Or pipe or any other possible flying projectiles
I guess my 'worst case scenario' fear, is that one tree falling in the middle of the night right onto the roof over my bed. Not likely, but still.
