BYC Café

Yes, at one point we had 4 fires surrounding us and myself, cat and sheepies, plus 2 kids evacuated and scattered here and there. Cat in one place, sheep in another, people hanging out in Denver with DS@. DS$ was at a wrestling tournament in another state when we had to go and then he needed good internet for online classes. DH stayed behind with the chickens to guard the place with a few other neighbors. We do have Nomex and other fire gear. It was a mess. Power surges when they gave it back to us fried the microwave and the computer monitor. We somehow sprang a leak in the water line from the well to the house, probably not fire-related, but a backhoe worthy digging event. Just got the hole backfilled today. The water heater had a fit and I had to "Press the Red Button!" It did bless us with hot water again. Now we have a circuit that is giving us issues in the kitchen so the NEW microwave is in the livingroom.
Anyway, tomorrow I have someone coming to look at bags of wool. We shall see.
Do you wash your own wool Margie?

We got where we wanted to get. It will take about 3 hours to hit the ridge tomorrow. Then I'll switch gears to washing and staining the second floor shutters and cleaning the basement room under the great room for painting.
I'll be working on dad's house all weekend.

Goodness, do you ever stop to take care of yourself, @DobieLover ? I do know the pressure that is on when something needs to be done before winter sets in or the always too fast approaching date for the final acceptance of construction work, but you really seem to be like toiling and plodding like the Duracell bunny. :bow

I do stop to take care of myself. The work is actually part of taking care of myself.
Doing the house for my mother was closure for losing my father. I had offered to do a house for them when he was still alive so they could downsize to something more manageable and be on one level. He was too bonded to the huge house and that is where he died.
I enjoy using my brain to figure out how to do things and use my body to do the physical work. It is very rewarding.
I really want dad's house done and under contract. I've gotten to really like the young couple that is buying it. The husband and I work well together on all these projects. It is also good closure for me to let go of dad's house and let everything move forward.
I could do without the pressure though. I'd like to work at my own pace. As it is now, I'll be working until the my body gives out every day until all the items on the work list for dad's house are done while at the same time continuing to run this house. Like dealing with that huge pile of fire wood in my driveway!
