Hey there! Can i please have a hot chocolate with extra cream and marshmallows.
So.... I currently only have 3 hens, 1 cat and 1 dog but in the new year, hoping to expand my flock. Also, a quick question, will ducks and chickens live in harmony? Oop another question... Will a cockerel live in harmoney with a drake? Thx!

I would not mix chickens with ducks as drakes can kill your chickens trying to mate them (drakes have a long penis formed like a corkscrewer which will rip the insides of the chicken apart and tear it out). They even sometimes kill their own females when hormones start raging.

If you want to have ducks, keep them separate from the chickens in their own coop and run and all will be fine.

Ducks dirty?????

apparently they poo a lot.
Also they can carry respiratory diseases that impact chickens more than themselves. While the H5N8 AI is about, people who keeps ducks as well have to follow more regs and be even more careful.

It is still all grey and raining with gusts of strong winds. Nasty weather that seems to seep into my bones.
